The Canadian Mental Health Association, Nipissing Regional Branch (CMHA Nipissing) is dedicated to building a community which accepts people with mental illness and promotes mental health.
CMHA Nipissing believes that all citizens should have timely access to needed mental health services and be free of discrimination. CMHA takes an innovative approach to involve the entire community in the generation of an informed and coordinated response to the mental health needs of the region’s population.
Who We Are
We are a dedicated team of mental health professionals, case managers and volunteers who work to carry out the organization’s mission. We work with individuals, families and community partners to support mental health recovery and wellness at the individual and community levels.
CMHA Nipissing is a publicly funded, charitable organization serving the district of Nipissing and the Northeast quadrant of Parry Sound. Since its establishment in 1977, CMHA Nipissing has grown based on community needs in the Nipissing region. Originally formed to fill a social recreation need, our organization now includes a variety of supports such as: Case Management and Outreach Services, Developmental Disability Services, Social Recreation Services in North Bay and Powassan, Supportive Housing and Rent Supplements, Justice Services, and Mental Health Promotion, Information and Education Services.
The organization is governed by an independent local Board of Directors with representation from North Bay and area, Northeast Parry Sound, West Nipissing and East Nipissing. The volunteer Board includes members who are consumers and is supported by a general membership and volunteers. CMHA Nipissing has strong links to local community partners, other CMHA branches in Ontario and CMHA National.
